Jim Patterson has ministered to high school students and young adults for more than 25 years. His passion is to see intergenerational ministry and discipleship thrive within the local church. Jim is a professional geologist by day, giving new meaning to “on Christ the solid rock I stand.” He enjoys cooking, hanging out with his wife, and traveling to see his children and grandchildren.
Melinda Patterson is a lifelong resident of Richmond, the mother of two girls and a proud “Grammy” to seven grandchildren. She began working with children at her church more than 25 years ago and eventually graduated to working with teenagers and adults. Melinda loves to see young people develop a deep personal faith in Jesus Christ and discover how He would have them use their unique gifts and talents.
Jasmine Yanez graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelor’s degree focusing on health, physical education and exercise science. She’s energetic, creative and driven. She feels called to continue ministry in Richmond and pouring into student lives the love of Christ. Jasmine is a member of Commonwealth Chapel and serves as group leader in the kid’s ministry. In her spare time she likes to knit, play racquetball, thrift and take walks around parks and her neighborhood.
Alex Wilson is a Richmond-native, but after high school, he moved to England to attend YWAM’s Discipleship Training School. When he returned to the United States, Alex started Bible College at Moody Bible Institute and entered the working world running ecommerce websites. Alex and his wonderful wife of four years, Mary, are members of the Richmond Campus of Wave Church and minister there in addition to leading RVA LEADS.
Mary Wilson grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania – and she gives a tongue-in-cheek “sorry” to those who ask if she’s Amish or Mennonite. Mary started her academic career in Lancaster, then joined YWAM, where she met her wonderful husband. Now the two reside in Richmond. She restarted school and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University May 2015.
